For my screencasts I was using gtkrecordmydesktop since my first screencast and it did a good job. For quiet some time now I am experiencing issues with it were it stops recording my voice at some point during the session and I ended up with recording the audio again. In this Blog I show you how to create a Scrolling Text Effect with OpenShot Video Editor. Only two things are needed. 1. a video clip and 2. you have to create a title. Place the Video Clip on Track number 1 and the generated title with the text you liked to scroll across the screen on Track 2. Watch the youtube video for all details.

OpenShot Video Editor is a full blown non-linear Video Editor like KDEnLive and Cinelerra. It is delivered with Effects, Transitions, Title Generator for Basic Title and it makes use of InkScape for more advanced Titles. There are many Audio/Video codecs that are supported. You can also build your very own Profiles for Projects to setup a specific resolution or codec or even set a fixed time frame.
